Antonin Guyon Volnay 1er ‘Clos des Chenes’ 2010

Pinot Noir from France - Burgandy
Review Date : 28-Nov-2013
Ruby-red colour with light purple hues, pale on rim. The bouquet is fine, intense and penetrating with floral perfumes and nuances of fresh herbs. Some volatility is noticeable, lifting the aromatics. Medium-bodied, elegant and refined red berry and red floral fruit flavours show tightness and concentration. The tannins are very fine-grained, but still youthfully firm, and along with the racy, brisk acidity provide linearity and drive. Some oak nuttiness is present, adding some enrichening detail. This is ‘feminine’ in style and typically Volnay. It should evolve over the next 8-9+ years. From 0.87 ha, the wine aged 16 months in 30% new oak. 17.5+/20 Nov 2013 RRP $130.00
