Antinori ‘Villa Antinori’ Toscana IGT 2009

Sangiovese from Italy - Tuscany
Review Date : 08-Oct-2014
Very dark, deep, garnet red with black hues. This has a very full and densely packed bouquet with savoury red fruits, dried herb and earth, melded with game elements, the nose growing in depth and presence in the glass. Medium-full bodied, plush, rich and densely concentrated flavours of sweet, savoury red and brown fruits unfold layers of plums, leather, dried herbs and spices. The intermix is complex and detailed. This exudes ripeness, and the mouthfeel is softly textured and mouthfilling with roundness. Soft acidity and integrated tannins carry the wine smoothy to s full, mellow finish. This is a traditional, secondary flavoured, savoury Tuscan red. A match with game meat over the next 5-6+ years. 55% Sangiovese, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Merlot and 5% Syrah, fermented to 13.5% alc., the wine aged 12 months in 60 gallon French, Hungarian, and American oak barrels. 18.0+/20 Oct 2014 RRP $39.95
