Antinori ‘Tignanello’ Toscana IGT 2009

Sangiovese from Italy - Tuscany
Review Date : 13-Sep-2013
Dark, deep and full ruby-red colour, this has concentrated aromas of ripe, dark red berry fruit with an amalgam of plums with cherry fruit, warm leather and some mineral freshness, the aromatics showing real lift. Full-bodied and with lovely concentration, depth and density of texture, the fruit richness is stylish and has restraint, but unfolds layers of dark savoury, iron-like detail and black-red fruits. Oak spice and toast notes emerge in the glass reminding us of its ‘Super Tuscan’ status. There is ripe, fine acidity underlining the wine and the length is a feature. This has 10-15 years ahead of it. 80% Sangiovese, 15% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Cabernet Franc from the ‘Tignanello’ estate, the wine aged 16-18 months in French and Hungarian oak. 19.0+/20 Sep 2013 RRP $127.95
