Antinori ‘Peppoli’ Chianti Classico DOCG 2011

Sangiovese from Italy - Tuscany
Review Date : 08-Oct-2014
Dark, deep ruby-red colour with some garnet on rim. This has fresh and bright black cherry and spicy berry fruit aromas quite lifted with primary notes and elements of toasty oak in the background. Medium-bodied and elegantly presented, tightly bound flavours of black cherries, plums, herbs and earthy nuances are complexed by spices and nuances of toasty oak. The mouthfeel is refined and has a concentrated core, with soft acidity allowing the tannins to feature in support. The palate flows with good energy to a bright, fresh finish with bitter-sweet cherry flavours. This is fruit focussed and elegant. 5+ years. 90% Sangiovese, 10% Merlot and Syrah from the ‘Peppoli’ estate, fermented to 13.0% alc., the wine aged 9 months in Slavonian oak with 10% in small American oak. 18.0+/20 Oct 2014 RRP $36.95
