Antinori ‘Marchese’ Chianti Classico Riserva DOCG 2009

Sangiovese from Italy - Tuscany
Review Date : 08-Oct-2014
Very dark, deep, ruby-red colour with a black-red heart and garnet on rim. The bouquet is full, deep, and very complex with layers of savoury red berry fruits with earth, cedar, toast and spices that unfold in waves, showing an opulence and completeness. Full bodied, rich, plush and succulent fruit flavours of dark cherries, plums, liquorice are complexed by layers of savoury cooked fruits, earth and cedar. The fruit is well-balanced by substantial extract and structure, providing a fulsome, rounded mouthfeel. The wine has a concentrated and dense core that carries to a soft, long finish with oak and spices. This is a fully rich and structured, warm vintage Chianti with plenty of oak spice. 6-8+ years. 90% Sangiovese and 10% Cabernet from the Tignanello, Badia a Passignano, and Peppoli estates, fermented to 13.5% alc., the wine aged for a year in 60 gallon French and Hungarian oak barrels. 19.0-/20 Oct 2014 RRP $48.95
