Antinori ‘Marchese’ Chianti Classico Riserva DOCG 2008

Sangiovese from Italy - Tuscany
Review Date : 13-Sep-2013
90% Sangiovese and 10% Cabernet from the ‘Tignanello’ estate, fermented to 13.5% alc. and aged 12 months in French and Hungarian oak. Dark, deep-hearted, ruby-red colour, bright bitter cherry fruits are expressed with modernity, clean and the more savoury earth and leather aromas in support rather than the focus. Oaking is barely discernible, and the freshness a highlight. More medium-bodied, the gentle ripeness and clarity of berry and cherry fruits is very contemporary, the wine showing a degree of succulence. Very fine-grained tannins and bright acidity balance the flavours, cutting the sweetness, and providing a refined, tight structure and framework. This is very classy and elegant and will very enjoyable over the next 5-7 years.. Around 40,000 cases are made. 18.0+/20 Sep 2013 RRP $47.95
