Antinori ‘Guado al Tasso’ Bolgheri DOC Vermentino 2011

Other White from Italy - Tuscany
Review Date : 08-Oct-2014
Bright straw-yellow colour with slight golden hues. The bouquet is soft and light in expression with yellow stonefruits and subtle exotic yellow florals, the aromatics showing some secondary characters. Dry to taste and medium-bodied, soft and mellow yellow stonefruit, nutty and floral fruit flavours gently unfold to show a saline nuance. The palate is carried by phenolic textures and grip providing structure and vinous weight. An intriguing mineral, floral and honied amalgam emerges on the finish. This is drinking on its plateau. 100% Vermentino, given skin contact and fermented in stainless-steel to 12.5% alc. This bottle a little more substantial than the example I tried last year. 17.0+/20 RRP $39.95 100% Vermentino fermented in stainless-steel to 12.5% alc., this has a soft straw yellow colour and is a more restrained expression of this grape. While not showing the exuberant exotic aromatics as can be usually seen, this had the soft, oily textures and subtle richness that the best examples capture. Very fine textures, line and a degree of richness mark the palate. 16.5+/20 Sep 2013 RRP $37.95
