Antinori ‘Cevaro della Sala’ ‘Castello della Sala’ Umbria IGT 2009

Chardonnay from Italy - Other
Review Date : 19-Jun-2013
85% Chardonnay and 15% Grechetto, given skin contact and barrel fermented, the wine aged 6 months in oak on lees, undergoing MLF. Straw yellow with slight golden hues. This is very fine and tight on bouquet, a little shy and restrained, but with nutty, flint and mineral infused white stonefruit aromas. There are subtle layers of barrel-ferment and a little savoury meal secondary development notes. Medium-full bodied, the flavours are reined in, but sweet citrus, mealy, nutty stonefruit flavours sit at the core. The mouthfeel is soft and tending dry, with the flint and mineral flavours featuring on the finish. This has a stylish layering of interest and complexity for its quiet expression. 5-6 years. 18.0-/20 Jun 2013 RRP $91.99
