Ant Moore ‘Reserve’ Central Otago Pinot Noir 2009

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Otago
Review Date : 29-Jun-2011
Clones 777, 5 and 115 from the Alexandra Basin and Gibbston Valley regions given a cold soak and fermented to 14.0% alc. The wine was aged 14 months in 1 y.o. French oak barriques. This is a selection from the best eight barrels and constitutes Ant Moore's first ‘Reserve' Pinot Noir. Dark, deep ruby-red in colour with youthful purple hues, the nose is concentrated, dense and intensely packed with very ripe black fruits. Layered nuances of oak, hints of raisiny fruit and a suggestion of portiness are revealed in the glass. A full-bodied wine, this is rich, lush and extravagant with ripe dark berry fruit and black plum flavours interwoven with spicy oak. Bold and showing power, the palate is underlined by good fresh acidity and supple, refined tannins. Serve with Middle Eastern cuisine, or red meat and game dishes over the next 6-8 years. 18.5+/20 Jun 2011 RRP $45.00
