Anne Gros ‘Le Grand Maupertui’ Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru 2009

Pinot Noir from France - Burgandy
Review Date : 04-May-2014
Full, dark, deep ruby-red colour, vibrant and youthful. This has a bouquet of finesse with integration, depth and subtle power, with aromas of ripe dark red berry fruits and notes of red plums. The aromatics are youthfully fresh with dark red perfumes and delicate layers of oak and savoury dried herb detail unfolding. Medium-full bodied, sweet, luscious and rich dark red berry and plum flavours are enhanced by red florals and savoury whole cluster complexities. The palate is elegant in proportion, with refined tannin extraction and excellent acidity and energy. There is beautiful, supple texture allied to sweetness and lift, and the flavours carry to a sustained finish. This is beautifully refined Clos de Vougeot with great elegance and balance that will develop over the next 10-12+ years. 19.0/20 Apr 2014 RRP $270.00 From a 0.93 ha single parcel in the ‘Grand Maupertui' section underneath Grands Echezeaux. Full, even ruby-red with slight garnet hues, a little purple on edge, youthful in appearance. The bouquet is complex with layers of aromatics, savoury red berry fruits lifted with florals and enhanced by cedar, herbs and earth, the oak very integral. Medium-full bodied, the complex amalgam of flavours are expressed with gentle lusciousness and sweetness. The tannins are very fine and supple and allow the waves of flavours to unfold. Soft red berry fruits, florals, savoury earth and mushrooms along with subtle spicing. The wine has a very long and lingering finish. This is a wine that is classical red burgundy with beauty and complexity. Enjoy over 8-10+ years. 19.0/20 Apr 2012 RRP $270.00
