Tasman fruit destemmed and fermented to 14.0% alc., spending one week on skins and aged 16 months in new and seasoned French oak. Dark ruby-red colour, full and youthful in appearance. The bouquet is elegantly proportioned with clear-cut aromas of white pepper, along with red floral perfumes, cinnamon spice and bacony oak. Medium-full bodied, very intense and tightly bound, concentrated flavours of red berry fruit and white pepper are backed by elevated acidity and fine-grained tannins. This is up-front and assertive, but nuances of fresh herbs, some stalk character, with confectionary and smoky, toasty oak emerge. The wine has a moderately long finish of dark raspberry and pepper flavours. This cool-climate Syrah features intense peppery flavours and racy acidity.
