Anchorage ‘Reserve’ Nelson Chardonnay 2010

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Nelson
Review Date : 06-May-2012
Fully barrel fermented to 14.5% alc. and aged 16 months in French barriques, the wine undergoing 100% MLF and given batonnage. Bright straw-yellow colour with golden hues, pale on rim. The nose is intense and tight with fresh, steely citrus fruits and penetrating butterscotch MLF and nutty oak aromas. Full-bodied, powerful fruit flavours of citrus and melons are laced with bold toasty oak and buttery, creamy MLF components. Some nuances of flinty emerge in the glass. The palate combines rich, creamy barrel-ferment textures with racy acidity and it has real drive and energy. Buttery flavours predominate on the long, sustained finish. Rich and creamy textured, this bold Chardonnay shows plenty of malolactic fermentation expression. Match with rich poultry and pork dishes over the next 3-4+ years. 17.5-/20 May 2012 RRP $20.00
