Anchorage Nelson Viognier 2011

Viognier from New Zealand - Nelson
Review Date : 06-May-2012
Bright, very pale straw colour, clear on rim. The bouquet is very light and delicate with white stonefruits, apricot kernels, exotic florals and nuances of flint and minerals. Dryish to taste, this has good presence on the palate with subtle flavours of citrus and stonefruit, along with ginger and spices. Some phenolic texture shows along with acid briskness and the wine has a sustained finish of apples and apricots, a trace of sweetness adding some richness. This is a light and subtle Viognier that displays classical weight and texture. Match with rich seafood and poultry dishes over the next 2-3 years. Fruit from the company's 'Flett Road' vineyard from 5 y.o. vines, stainless-steel fermented to 12.5% alc. and 5.1 g/L rs, a small portion undergoing MLF, the wine undergoing lees-stirring. 15.5/20 May 2012 RP $17.00
