Anchorage Nelson Gewurztraminer 2013

Gewurztraminer from New Zealand - Nelson
Review Date : 11-Jan-2014
Bright, pale-straw colour with light green hues, very pale on rim. Concentrated and deep, perfumed aromas of rose-petal florals show on the bouquet, along with ginger, minerals and musk. The nose is very clear in its exotic expression. Medium-dry to taste and elegantly proportioned, tightly concentrated flavours of Turkish Delight and exotic florals are intermixed with white stonefruits, ginger and spices. The mouthfeel features a firm core, with well-managed phenolic textures. Fresh, balanced acidity adds to the firm line and carries the flavours to a dry, well-concentrated and long finish, with ginger notes. This is an elegantly concentrated medium-dry Gewurztraminer with firm clarity of ginger and floral flavours. Match with Asian and Middle Eastern fare, and with semi-hard cheeses over the next 3-4 years. The fruit given 6 hours skin contact and cool-fermented to 13.0% alc. and 10.9 g/L RS, the wine given extended lees contact. 84 cases made. 17.5+/20 Jan 2014 RRP $18.99
