Anchorage Nelson Dolcetto 2015

Other Red from New Zealand - Nelson
Review Date : 17-Aug-2016
Very dark, deep, purple-hued ruby-red colour, youthful in appearance. The nose is tight and firmly concentrated with aromas of lifted dark red berry and black cherry fruit melded with dark herbs and stalk notes, unfolding nuances of spice and pepper. The fruit is in the cooler spectrum but has intensity. Light-medium bodied, the fruit flavours are bright, fresh and piquant with lifted bitter black cherries and dark red berry fruits, entwined with fresh herbs and stalk nuances. The fruit is supported by plenty of tannin extraction, the textures fine-grained and flowery, with softly integrated acidity. The wine is carried by the structure to a bitter black cherry and herb-nuanced finish with some grip. This is a tightly concentrated Dolcetto with black cherry and dark-red berry fruit with cool-spectrum herb and stalk notes and a well-structured, fine-textured palate. Serve with herb-marinated lamb and beef dishes over the next 4 years. Fruit from a hillside vineyard overlooking the Waimea Plains, hand-picked, destemmed and fermented to 12.0% alc., the wine given light oak contact. 15.5+/20 Aug 2016 RRP $21.00
