Anchorage Nelson Chardonnay 2013

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Nelson
Review Date : 11-Jan-2014
Brilliant, light golden yellow colour with some depth, lighter on edge. The bouquet is full and softly packed with aromas of ripe tropical fruits, honey and apricots and a suggestion of toastiness. Dry and full-bodied, lush and rich tropical fruit flavours intermingle with yellow stonefruits and honeysuckle nuances. The fruit is up-front and expressed simply. Fresh, balancing acidity provides a racy mouthfeel and line, and the vinosity is positive, forming a good core to the palate. The flavours are carried by the acidity to a fresh, sweet-fruited finish. This is a full Chardonnay with sweet and uncomplicated ripe tropical fruit flavours with good weight and acid drive. Match with seafood, poultry and pork over the next 2+ years. Fruit from the ‘Flett Road’ vineyard predominantly stainless-steel fermented to 14.5% alc. and 3.0 g/L RS, the wine given light oaking and aged on lees. 16.0/20 Jan 2014 RRP $18.99
