Anchorage ‘Barrel Aged’ Nelson Fume Blanc 2008

Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand - Nelson
Review Date : 06-Oct-2011
Brilliant straw-yellow colour with green hues and a pale edge, this has a fresh, steely nose of gooseberries, nettles and minerals along with some secondary bean nuances, and balanced oak nuttiness. Dry to taste, this is still tight and elegantly presented, with flavours of gooseberries, nettles and herbs. There are bottle-development notes with earth and subtle oak elements showing, and the wine has a steely edge to the texture, leading to a soft, nuanced finish of good length. Fermented to 13.0% alc. and 4.2 g/L rs, the wine aged in barrel with MLF. This is will continue to age slowly and match shellfish and poultry dishes over the next 2-3 years. 17.0-/20 Sep 2011 RRP $17.00
