Alpine Valley Marlborough Pinot Gris 2015

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 27-Dec-2015
Bright straw-yellow colour with light golden hues, lighter on the rim. The nose is full and fresh with soft aromas of lifted yellow florals and pear, with yellow stonefruits entwined with nuances of honeysuckle and herbs. Off-dry to taste and medium-full bodied, the flavours of yellow stonefruits, honeysuckle, florals and pears are upfront and gently aromatic. The mouthfeel is soft-textured and has suggestions of unctuousness. The wine follows a fine phenolic thread, and some underlying alcohol drive emerges, with the fruit receding as it carries to a moderately long, lingering finish of pears and honeysuckle. This is a light, up-front, fragrant off-dry Pinot Gris with pear and honeysuckle flavours and some alcohol drive. Match with Asian and Middle Eastern fare over the next 2+ years. Marlborough fruit cool-fermented in stainless-steel to 13.5% alc. and 7.8 g/L RS. 16.5/20 Dec 2015 RRP $16.95
