Allegiance ‘The Artisan’ Coonawarra Shiraz 2014

Syrah from Australia - South Australia
Review Date : 11-Sep-2015
Dark ruby-red colour with light purple hues on the rim, youthful in appearance. The nose is elegant and slender in proportion, with fragrant dark red cherry fruit with nuances of savoury dark raspberries entwined with mineral and herbal detail and a hint of reduction. Delicate red florals emerge in the glass. Medium-full bodied, the palate is elegant and tightly bound with moderately concentrated flavours of black and red cherries, along with subtle raspberry, nutty, herbal and mineral elements. The mouthfeel is fresh and juicy, with lively acidity providing tension and energy, and fine-grained tannin extraction lending structure with linearity. The wine carries to a fine, firm finish with lingering dark red cherry flavours. This is an elegant Shiraz with subtly sweet dark cherry flavours and fine-grained structure. Serve with Mediterranean-inspired fare over the next 6-8 years. Coonawarra fruit fermented to 13.5% alc., the wine oaked. 17.0-/20 Sep 2015 RRP AUS$30.00
