Allan Scott ‘Wallops’ Marlborough Chardonnay 2012

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 07-Jun-2013
A barrel selection of Chardonnay wine from the ‘Wallops’ vineyard. Fully barrel-fermented by indigenous yeasts to 13.5% alc., the wine undergoing 100% MLF and aged 11 months in 40% new French oak barrels. Full straw-yellow colour with slight golden hues and some depth. The bouquet is fresh and bright with finely presented and lively citrus fruit aromas, some butterscotch MLF and a little oak adding nutty interest, all well-integrated, growing to show good density. Medium-bodied and elegantly sized, the flavours of citrus fruits and stonefruits, butterscotch and nuts form an integrated amalgam. The expression is restrained, and the mouthfeel underlined by crisp and lively acidity, carrying the finely textured palate to an elegant, dry, minerally finish. This is an elegant, harmonious Chardonnay with citrussy fruit and good depth. Match with seafood and poultry over the next 4-5 years. 17.5+/20 Jun 2013 RRP $33.00
