Allan Scott Marlborough Late Harvest Riesling 2014

Sweet Wine from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 17-Aug-2016
Deep golden yellow colour with light orange hues, paler on the rim. The bouquet is very full and intensely packed and concentrated with decadent aromas of ripe citrus fruits and tropical fruits, apricot and marmalade, honey and nectar and suggestions of caramel and toffee. Some volatile lift unfolds. Very sweet, the opulent flavours of ripe tropical fruits, honey and marmalade are enriched by caramel notes and lifted a little by some volatility. The palate is rich and unctuous in texture and guided by a very fine, textural line. The acidity is integrated and harmoniously balanced lending roundness and gentle energy, and the wine flows smoothly to a long and sustained finish of tropical fruits, honey and caramel. This is an opulent and decadent botrytised dessert wine with tropical fruit, honey and marmalade flavours with caramel notes and an unctuous, fine-textured line. Serve with crème brulee and steamed puddings, or instead of a liqueur over the next 4-5 years. 100% botrytised Riesling fruit from the ‘Moorlands’ vineyard fermented to 6.8% alc. and 309 g/L RS, the wine aged 6 months in neutral oak. (375 ml) 18.5+/20 Aug 2016 RRP $28.00
