Allan Scott ‘Generations’ Marlborough Gewurztraminer 2016

Gewurztraminer from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 16-Jul-2017
Even, pale straw-yellow colour with slight green hues, very light on the edge. The nose is elegantly proportioned with intense and penetrating aromas of rose-petal florals, exotic musk, subtle notes of Turkish Delight and lychees. The aromatics show density and fine concentration. Medium-dry to taste and medium-bodied, this has a concentrated heart with flavours of exotic rose-petals, musk, tropical fruits and lychees. The mouthfeel is rounded with suggestions of opulence and unctuousness, and soft, balanced acidity enhancing the richness. The wine has a soft core and smooth line that carries the flavours to a very long and sustained finish of rose-petal florals and musk. This medium-dry Gewurztraminer has a rounded, near opulent palate with a concentrated heart of rose-petals, exotic fruit, musk and lychees. Serve with mildly spicy Asian and Middle Eastern cuisine over the next 3+ years. Fruit from the ‘Millstone’ vineyard, vines planted 2004, tank-fermented to 13.0% alc. and 15 g/L RS, the wine aged 6 months on lees in seasoned oak. 18.5+/20 Jul 2017 RRP $26.00
