Alexia Wairarapa Pinot Gris 2010

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Wairarapa & Wellington
Review Date : 12-Feb-2011
The Alexia label is winemaker Jane Cooper's own label. It is a tribute to her maternal grandmother. This Pinot Gris is the first release, made from fruit from the company's home Opaki vineyard, partially barrel fermented to 13.5% alc. and 9.5 g/L rs. Straw yellow colour with a glint of gold, this has a light, fresh nose of pears and minerals with some depth. The wine is dryish to taste, some fruit sweetness contributing some richness. Pears, stonefruits and minerals show on a linear palate, the wine finishes with a softness. Drink over the next 3 years plus. 16.5/20 Nov 2010 RRP $18.00
