Alexander ‘Raumati’ Martinborough Pinot Noir Rosé 2016

Rose from New Zealand - Wairarapa & Wellington
Review Date : 05-Oct-2016
Bright, pale cerise-pink colour with some depth, lighter on the rim with slight purple hues. The nose is fresh and aromatic with bright cranberry and raspberry fruit entwined with red florals harmoniously melded with nuances of fruit pastille confectionary and savoury, steely mineral notes. Dry to taste and medium-full bodied, this has a concentrated core of cranberry and raspberry fruit entwined with herb and fruit pastille nuances, unfolding steely minerals. The mouthfeel has a firm, thirst-quenching, fine-textured line with underlying bright acidity. This has good drive and linearity, and the wine carries to a well-concentrated, lingering finish of cranberries and steely, savoury, minerals. This is a firm and well-concentrated dry rosé with savoury cranberry and raspberry fruit along a steely, mineral note and bright acidity. Serve with tapas and antipasto over the next 2+ years. ‘Raumati’ means ‘summer’ in Maori. Clone 5 Pinot Noir fruit, cool-fermented to 13.5% alc. and 0.4 g/L RS. 103 dozen made. 17.0/20 Oct 2016 RRP $24.00
