Alexander Martinborough Pinot Noir 2015

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Wairarapa & Wellington
Review Date : 25-May-2016
Dark, deep, ruby-red colour with youthful purple hues, lighter on the rim. The nose is very fresh and fragrant with vibrantly aromatic, ripe, dark-red and black-berried fruits entwined with nuances of liquorice and spice, unfolding dark red and violet perfumes. This has purity, intensity and finesse in the presentation. Medium-full bodied, fine and intense, aromatic flavours of dark-red and black fruits are enhanced by violet and red florals. The mouthfeel is very fine in texture, allowing the fruit detail to show. Integrated acidity adds to the balance and harmony of the palate, and the fruit sweetness carries with energy and linearity to a long and sustained finish with subtle liquorice and floral elements. This is a very finely-presented, vibrant and sweet-fruited, aromatic Pinot Noir with fine grained tannins, balance and length. Serve with duck and pork dishes over the next 6 years. A barrel selection wine. Clones 5, 115, 667, 777 and some Abel, from the ‘House Block’, destemmed and 20% indigenous yeast fermented to 13.8% alc., the wine spending 24 days on skins and aged 11 months in 20% new French oak barrels. 125 cases made. RRP $38.00
