Alexander Martinborough Pinot Noir 2013

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Wairarapa & Wellington
Review Date : 13-Oct-2014
Dark, deep ruby-red colour, youthful. This has a full, voluminous nose with ripe, dark raspberry fruit aromas with plum and a little oak toastiness. Some lift (VA?) to the aromatics. The palate is gently concentrated with ripe and up-front flavours of dark raspberry fruit, quite sweet in expression and forward in character. The fruit is supported by fine-grained tannins and the acidity is discreet, but lends sufficient tension. Dark fruit flavours, liquorice and oak along with a little positive funky interest add to the range of flavours. This grows to become a mouthfilling consumer-friendly style. 5-6 years. A barrel selection. Dijon clones 115, 667, 667 and 5, planted 1998. Wild yeast, 21-26 days on skins, 20% new oak. 18.0+/20 Oct 2014 RRP $36.00
