Alex Gambal Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru 2009

Pinot Noir from France - Burgandy
Review Date : 29-Apr-2012
Fruit purchased by Gambal as a negociant. Moderately deep ruby-red colour with a light edge, this has a tight and very intense nose with dark berry fruit aromas with herbal and stalk notes, with some mushroom and game-like nuances. Medium-bodied with good, tight concentration, red berry fruit flavours show alongside herbal and whole bunch elements. This has a firmness and lean, sinewy mouthfeel, the tannins dominating. This needs some time to allow the tannins to soften for accessibility, but some fruit sweetness shows on the finish along with the dry tannins. A firm, leaner style with attractive red fruits and whole bunch and herb notes. Drink over 6-8 years. 17.5+/20 Apr 2012 RRP $299.00
