Alana Estate ‘Rapture’ Martinborough Pinot Noir 2013

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Wairarapa & Wellington
Review Date : 03-Nov-2014
Full, dark ruby-red colour, youthful in appearance, lighter on edge. The nose is full and openly fruity with aromas of ripe dark berry fruit intermixed with light, aromatic herbal and peppery elements, with a little oak resin. Medium-full bodied, up-front and sweetly ripe flavours of dark red berry fruits are entwined with herb and stalky notes and some nutty, slightly resiny oak. The palate is juicy and lively, building to show good depth and weight. Supple tannins and fresh, youthful acidity add to the brightness and presence and the wine grows in density and robustness. The flavours lead to a fruity, fulsome moderately long finish. This is a sweet-fruited Pinot Noir with good depth and a robust mouthfeel. Match with roasted beef and lamb over the next 5+ years. Fully destemmed and fermented to 13.5% alc., the wine spending 21 days on skins and aged 6 months in 10% new oak. 17.5/20 Nov 2014 RRP $21.00
