Bright, very pale straw-colour with a suggestion of blush, very pale on rim. The nose is softly full with aromas of yellow stonefruits and yellow florals intermixed with gentle honeysuckle notes, hints of spice and some lifted fermentation esters. Dryish to taste, subtly sweet and rich flavours of yellow stonefruits and honeysuckle are lifted by floral and esters elements. The mouthfeel is brisk and racy with enlivening acidity, and the wine follows a firm, underlying line. Some phenolic textures combine with the acidity to show a steely, dry linearity that carries to an aromatic finish with florals and esters. This is a dryish Pinot Gris with subtly sweet stonefruit and honeysuckle notes along with aromatic lift and a crisp dry-textured finish. Serve with seafood and poultry, and with Asian fare over the next 2-3+ years. Fruit from Te Muna Road, fermented in stainless-steel to 12.5% alc. and 3 g/L RS, the wine aged 3 months on lees. 16.5+/20 Oct 2015 RRP $25.00
