Alana Estate ‘Lumiere’ Martinborough Pinot Noir 2014

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Wairarapa & Wellington
Review Date : 18-Oct-2015
Moderately dark ruby-red colour with depth, and lighter purple hues on the edge. The nose is soft and gentle in expression, quite restrained, revealing aromas of dark raspberries and red liquorice, lifted by subtle red floral elements, unfolding nuances of herbs and earth. This builds in depth and density with aeration. Medium-full bodied, this has a soft and full mouthfeel with good vinosity, and light and softly expressed flavours of raspberries, liquorice and herbs. The fruit is sweet and has richness, blossoming on mid-palate, revealing spice notes. Soft, supple tannins support the fruit and soft acidity enhances the rounded textures, leading to a gentle, raspberry fruited finish. This is a soft, gentle, raspberry and liquorice-fruited Pinot Noir with a supple mouthfeel. Match with duck, pork, beef and lamb over the next 4 years. Clones 667, 777 and 10/5 from Puruatanga Road, partially indigenous yeast fermented with 5% whole clusters to 13.5% alc., the wine aged 6 months in seasoned French oak. 16.5+/20 Oct 2015 RRP $25.00
