Alana Estate ‘Lumiere’ Martinborough Pinot Noir 2012

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Wairarapa & Wellington
Review Date : 25-Dec-2013
Moderately deep, dark ruby-red colour, lighter on edge. The nose is elegant with fragrant savoury red berry fruit aromas intermixed with red florals, spices and dried herb elements, that grow in depth. Medium-full bodied, up-front flavours of savoury dark red berry fruits, dried herbs and seasoned oak fill the mouth, with fresh, lively acidity in support. Grainy tannins are prevalent and build to become the feature, forming a solid, firm and dry mouthfeel. The flavours recede, and the palate leads to a light, textured finish with cooler herb nuances and fresh acidity remaining. This is an up-front and solid, savoury Pinot Noir with prominent textures and brisk acidity. Match with pasta and barbecued foods over the next 4+ years. Hand-picked fruit, destemmed, given a cold soak and fermented to 13.5% alc., the wine spending 20-28 days on skins and aged in French oak barriques and puncheons, 10% new. 16.5+/20 Dec 2013 RRP $32.00
