Full, dark, deep, purple-hued ruby-red colour, youthful in appearance. The nose is fresh and elegantly concentrated with aromas of dark red cherry and raspberry fruit, lifted by red florals, unfolding spice elements, savoury herb and earthy notes, and a little resinous oak. Medium-full bodied, this has a full, rounded core packed with flavours of dark red berry and cherry fruit, and dark raspberries, harmoniously melded with soft herbal, spice and earthy layers, and nutty oak. The fruit is supported by soft and fine-grained tannin extraction and structure lending good mouthfeel and presence. Soft acidity enhances the richness, and the wine has some alcoholic drive and power that carries the palate to a plush finish with raspberry and spice notes. This is a soft and gently rich, harmonious, raspberry fruited Pinot Noir with good mouthfeel and presence. Match with lamb, beef and venison over the next 5-6 years. Clone 5 fruit from Puruatanga Road, indigenous yeast fermented with 15% whole bunches to 13.5% alc., the wine aged 12 months in 15% new French oak barriques. 17.5/20 Oct 2015 RRP $33.00
