Alana Estate ‘Estate’ Martinborough Pinot Noir 2013

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Wairarapa & Wellington
Review Date : 03-Nov-2014
Very dark, deep, black-hued ruby-red with youthful purple hues. This has a full, broad and accessible nose of ripe black berry and cherry fruit with savoury stalk and herb-like whole bunch aromatics. Lifted oak, raspberry and plum notes unfold in layers with aeration. Medium-full bodied and elegantly proportioned, well-concentrated flavours of dark red berry fruits are melded with aromatic, spicy oak. The fruit is supported by fine-grained tannin structure providing a firm and positively driven core, with good acidity and energy contributing to the palate line. Complexing savoury herb notes and spicy, cedar-like oak detail emerge, and carry through to a tightly bound, concentrated and long-lingering finish. This is an elegantly concentrated and fine-grained Pinot Noir with dark red fruit and spicy oak flavours. Serve with beef and lamb, and Middle Eastern fare over the next 6-7 years. Mainly indigenous yeast fermented with 10% whole bunches to 13.5% alc., the wine spending 10-28 days on skins and aged 10 months in 20% new oak. 18.0/20 Nov 2014 RRP $40.00
