Alana Estate ‘Estate’ Martinborough Chardonnay 2013

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Wairarapa & Wellington
Review Date : 03-Nov-2014
Bright, even straw-yellow colour with slight green hues, light edged. The nose is fresh and steely with light, fruit-focussed citrus and white stonefruit aromas, interwoven with subtle nutty oak and flinty, mineral elements. Medium-full bodied, fresh and bright citrus fruit and stonefruit flavours show with clarity. The fruit is subtly complexed by nutty and flinty nuances, and the mouthfeel is enlivened by lacy acidity. This is refreshingly youthful. Fine textures emerge as the wine flows and carry the palate through to a sustained finish that balances lush fruit with dryness. This is a lush and lively Chardonnay with freshness and clarity. Match with seafood and poultry over the next 4+ years. Fully indigenous yeast fermented with 60% whole bunches to 13.5% alc., the wine aged 7-8 months in 15% new puncheons and barriques, the wine undergoing batonnage, with no MLF. 17.5/20 Nov 2014 RRP $25.00
