Alain Jaume ‘Domaine Grand Veneur’ ‘Les Champauvins’ Cotes du Rhone 2015

Blended Red from France - Rhone
Review Date : 26-Nov-2018
Dark, deep, ruby-red colour with suggestions of garnet on the edge. The nose is softly full and rounded with well-packed and concentrated, sweetly ripe aromas of savoury dark raspberry and red berry fruit along with a subtle layering of dried garrigue herb and a little earthy detail. Medium-fullish bodied, the palate is soft and rounded with deep and well-packed flavours of savoury dark raspberry fruit melded harmoniously with dried and dark herbs and earth. The fruit is sweet at the core, and is balanced by fine-grained supple tannin extraction with integrated acidity. Rich layers of earthy detail unfold and carry to a fulsome finish. This is a rich and gently packed Cotes du Rhone with sweet and savoury dark red fruits entwined with dried herbs and earthy interest on a soft, supple palate with some extraction. Match with roasted game dishes and casseroles over the next 5-6 years. A blend of 70% Grenache Noir, 20% Syrah and 10% Mourvedre from vines from the ‘Les Champavins’ site adjacent to the Chateauneuf-du Pape appellation, fermented to 15.0% alc., the Grenache aged in concrete vat and the Syrah and Mourvedre in seasoned oak. Certified Agriculture France organic. 17.5+/20 Nov 2018 RRP $24.99
