Akarua ‘Rua’ Central Otago Pinot Noir 2015

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Otago
Review Date : 19-Dec-2015
Youthful, purple-hued ruby-red colour with moderate depth. The nose is softly full, up-front and bright with primary fruit aromas of raspberries and dark red cherries, along with subtle thyme herb notes and violet florals. The aromatics are soft and accessible. Medium-bodied, the palate features up-front, easy and juicy primary fruit flavours of dark raspberries, red cherries and whole berry fermentation confectionary elements. The mouthfeel is plush and supple with light tannin extraction and supple structure. This has a soft-textured line, the integrated acidity adding to the sweetness. The wine carries smoothly to a fruity red berry and floral nuanced juicy finish. This is an up-front, plush and juicy, supple Pinot Noir with flavours of dark raspberries. Serve with dim sum, Asian food, tapas and antipasto over the next 2-3 years. Central Otago fruit, fully destemmed, undergoing 5 days pre-ferment maceration and fermented, partially with indigenous yeasts to 14.0% alc., the wine aged 6 months in 10% new French oak barriques. 16.5+/20 Dec 2015 RRP $28.50
