Akarua ‘Gullies’ Central Otago Pinot Noir 2007

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Otago
Review Date : 09-Jun-2011
At 13.7% alc, aged 11 months in 33% new French oak. Deep ruby-red colour with garnet hues, this has a tight and concentrated nose with dense savoury dried herb and forest-floor aromatics and a palate that is locked-in, but showing excellent presence and weight. Red berry fruits, herbs and mushroomy secondary, savoury flavours show at the core. The wine's sweet fruit is beginning to dry a little, and the tannins are rounding out. This should become more complex and mellow over the next 3-4+ years.  Jun 2011
