Akarua Central Otago Pinot Noir 2010

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Otago
Review Date : 09-Jun-2011
At 14.5% alc, aged 10 months in 30% new French oak, this has a very dark, deep, near saturated purple-hued ruby colour and a very rich, ripe bouquet of black plum and boysenberry-like fruit aromas. The palate is rich, rounded and lush with opulent dark plum and spice flavours underlined by fine tannins that are covered somewhat by the sweet fruit. However the structure is more than ample for aging 5-7+ years. An archetype Central Otago ‘fruit-bomb' style that will be very popular.  Jun 2011
