Akaroa Winery Pinot Noir 2020, Banks Peninsula, Canterbury

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Canterbury & Waipara
Review Date : 14-May-2024
Light crimson, even colour throughout. The nose is elegant and gently full, with aromas of strawberry, cherry, thyme and delicate spice. Medium-light bodied, aromas of red and black cherry melded with wild strawberry, thyme, liquorice, cinnamon and pepper dusting. Silky tannins lightly coated the palate, unfolding dark herbaceous details with lively acidity to a dry, spiced finish. This Pinot Noir is elegantly presented with a dark herbaceous feature. Match with hare loin and duck over the next 3-5 years. The fruit was destemmed and crushed, cold soaked for 3 weeks, fermented to 14.4% alc, aged in seasoned French oak for 10 months, underwent MLF. 18-/20 pts (89 pts) May 2024 RRP $50
