Akaroa Winery Pinot Gris 2020, Banks Peninsula, Canterbury

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Canterbury & Waipara
Review Date : 14-May-2024
Bright, even, pale coral. The nose is complex and full, with aromas of ripe pear, stonefruit, honey, citrus zest, herbs and oxidative notes. Full-bodied, aromas of ripe pear, nectarine puree and honey entwined with orange zest, ginger and dried herbs. The fruit is lush and attractive, layers with spice and herbs, flows smoothly with ripe phenolics to a bold, long, dry finish. This on skins Pinot Gris is attractive and well-made with complex layers and a dry, spiced finish. Match with smoked eel and five-spice pork over the next 3-4 years. The fruit was destemmed and crushed, on skins for 10 days, fermented in seasoned barrels to dry and aged for 6 months, underwent MLF. 15.6%alc. 18.5/20 pts (93 pts) May 2023 RRP $50
