Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Canterbury & Waipara
Review Date : 30-Jun-2022
Light, ruby-red with a garnet hue, lighter on the rim. The nose is expressive and vibrant; aromas of raspberries, strawberries and red cherries interweave lilac and spice, a hint of gamey underlying and VA lifted the bouquet. Medium-light bodied, fresh aromas of raspberries, strawberries and red cherries reflect with a hint of VA, alongside lilac, pepper and dried herb. Subtle gamey nuances add layers and lend a mealy, fresh, peppery finish. The palate is vibrant with good energy; fine, grainy tannin provides a delicate mouthfeel supported by lively acidity. This fresh, red-fruited Pinot Noir shows floral, and spice with driven acid tension on a soft, gripped palate. Match with duck and char siu over the next 3-4 years. Handpicked, cold-soaked for 2 weeks, aged 10 months in French oak, underwent MLF, 15.6% alc. 17/20 pts (85 pts) June 2022 RRP $40
