Akaroa Winery Canterbury Pinot Noir 2010

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Canterbury & Waipara
Review Date : 24-Aug-2012
Bright, dark ruby-red colour with youthful purple hues. Light, fresh red cherry fruit aromas are intermixed with fresh herb and slightly sappy elements, the bouquet quite primary and pretty. Medium-bodied, attractively sweet, bright red cherry fruit flavours combine with cooler spectrum herbal notes. The palate shows lively acidity that drives the palate line and provides energy. The wine is modestly extracted, allowing the fruit to feature, enabling accessibility, and finishes dry, with light, cool, herb and redcurrant flavours. This is a light, brisk, cool-spectrum Pinot Noir with cherry and herb characters. Match with antipasto and firm-flesh seafood over the next 2-3+ years. Half the Pinot Noir fruit from the Takamatua Valley vineyard and half from a contract grower, fully destemmed, given a cold soak and fermented to 14.02% alc., the wine aged 12 months in seasoned oak barrels. 15.5/20 Aug 2012 RRP $30.00
