Akaroa Winery Canterbury Pinot Gris 2011

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Canterbury & Waipara
Review Date : 24-Aug-2012
Bright straw-yellow colour, pale on rim. The nose is light, fresh and elegant with aromas of white and yellow florals, with hints of spiced pears, lifted by some fermentation esters. Dry to taste and light-weight on palate, crisp, lacy acidity features on palate with subtly rich flavours of florals and pear fruit with nuances of honey. This has a delicate unctuousness to the texture and a little heat carries through to a light, clean finish. This is a light, fresh and subtly rich Pinot Gris with floral and pear characters. Match with subtle Asian cuisine over the next 2-3 years. 85% Pinot Gris and 15% Gewurztraminer fermented to 13.92% alc. and 4.2 g/L rs, the wine aged 8 months in 30% new oak with MLF in barrel. Certified organic grapes. 15.5+/20 Aug 2012 RRP $30.00
