Aitken’s Folly ‘Riverbank Road’ Central Otago Pinot Noir 2013

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Otago
Review Date : 11-Feb-2015
Dark, deep, black-hued purple-red colour, youthful in appearance. The nose is firmly concentrated with deep primary fruit aromas of dark raspberries along with nuances of liquorice, revealing a layering of thyme herbs and raspberry liqueur in the glass. Medium-full bodied, the palate features a firm and deep core of fresh, dark raspberry fruit flavours, with subtle dark herb detail. The palate has concentration and grainy tannin extraction adding to the firm structure. Fresh, lacy acidity enlivens the mouthfeel and lifts the fruit, and sweet raspberry liqueur notes emerge and are carried to a moderately sustained finish. This is a fresh and bright, primary-fruited Pinot Noir with dark raspberry fruit, firm structure and lively acidity. Match with pork, beef and lamb dishes over the next 4-5+ years. Clones 5, 667 and Abel fruit, fully destemmed and indigenous yeast fermented to 14.0% alc., the wine aged 10 months in approx. 30% new French oak. 17.0+/20 Feb 2015 RRP $35.00
