Dark ruby-red colour with slight purple hues. The bouquet is fresh with sweet, whole berry fruitiness along with hints of dark herbs, oak resin and pepper. Medium-bodied, intensely concentrated and penetrating flavours of dark red berry fruit, jam and red florals form a sweet and luscious core, lifted by some oak notes. The tannin extraction is balanced and integral, with fresh, slippery acid driving the fruit linearity. The flavours and mouthfeel exude freshness allied to sweetness, and lead to a lighter, leaner finish. 4-5+ years. Multiple clones and AVAs, 65% of the fruit from estate vineyards on the south-facing slopes of the Chehalem Mountains, destemmed and given a cold soak, then fermented to 13.4% alc., the wine spending 10 months in 34% new French oak barrels. 18.0-/20RRP USD $55.00
