Acheron Wairarapa Pinot Noir 2013

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Wairarapa & Wellington
Review Date : 13-Apr-2015
Moderately deep ruby-red colour with garnet hues, lighter on edge. The nose is soft and light with delicate and gentle, ethereal aromas of savoury red berry fruits with savoury nuances of earth, along with dark herbal elements at the core. Medium-bodied, soft, juicy and plush flavours of savoury dark berry fruits feature on the palate. Some earthy and herbal detail is present, adding interest. This has a rounded core with soft, flowery tannin extraction and good background acidity that carries the wine to a soft, dry finish. This is a soft and rounded Pinot Noir with light, savoury red berry fruits and herb and earthy detail. Serve with poultry, pork and mushroom risotto over the next 2-3 years. Multiple clone fruit from a single Wairarapa site, vines 8 y.o., hand-picked and fermented to 14.0% alc., the wine aged 12 months in 20% new French oak barriques. 16.0+/20 Apr 2015 RRP $27.50
