Abel ‘Single Vineyard’ Nelson Pinot Noir 2015

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Nelson
Review Date : 31-Mar-2016
Very dark, deep, black-hued ruby-red with youthful purple hues. The nose is finely proportioned with deeply packed and intense aromas of rich, ripe black cherry, dark red berry and dark plum fruit, melded with fragrant violet floral layers and subtly savoury, herbal-nuanced perfumes and liquorice notes. Medium-bodied, the palate features rich, plush and vibrantly juicy flavours of dark red berryfruit and plums along with violet florals and lifted whole berry fermentation aromatic notes. The mouthfeel is bright and enlivened by fresh, lacy acidity, and the fruit supported by fine, flowery, supple tannins which allow the fruit to prevail. The palate carries to a long, juicy, sweet finish with fresh cherry and floral notes. This is a beautifully rich, juicy and vibrant Pinot Noir with supple structure. Match with poultry and pork dishes over the next 5+ years. Abel clone fruit from the ‘Greenacres Estate’ Redwood Valley, destemmed and fermented to 13.0% alc., the wine aged 10 months in 25% new French oak. 460 dozen made. 18.5/20 Apr 2016 RRP $34.00
