Mourvedre from France - Other
Review Date : 23-Mar-2022
Deep, ruby-black with a faintly brick sheen, lighter on edge. The nose is gently full, savoury aromas lifted with a hint of smoke, underlying mulberries, black plums and an amalgam of spice. Full-bodied, aromas of mulberries, black plums have a sweet core, bay leaf, cinnamon linger to a savoury closing. The fruit is the feature of this wine, rounded and sweet, fills the palate with volume; bay leaf and cinnamon added interest. Velvety tannin added a soft grip with black tea nuance. This Mourvedre features black fruit and spice on a velvety tannin structure. Match with venison lasagne and beef burger over the next 3 years. Long maceration, fermented to 13% alc, 30% aged in barrels. 18/20 pts (90 pts) Mar 2022 RRP $23
