Abbotts & Delaunay Les Fruits Sauvages Chardonnay 2019, France

Chardonnay from France - Other
Review Date : 23-Mar-2022
Bright, even, pale yellow with some depth. The nose is soft and coy, aromas of apple, pear melded with a hint of floral and tomato vine, along with subtle spice. Medium-bodied, aromas of pear and apple entwined with stonefruit, a slight note of nut and spice linger to a moderate finish. The fruit possesses ripeness with good acid balance; creaminess from MLF provide a smooth-flowing mouthfeel. This Languedoc Chardonnay with flavours of apple and pear, and complexity of nut and the creamy palate shows balance and elegance. Match with baked brill and chicken satay over the next 2-3 years. 1/3 of the fruit barrel-fermented in new & 1-year-old, aged for 9 months on lees with regular stirring, underwent MLF. The rest is fermented in stainless steel with no MLF. 13.5% alc. 17+/20 pts (86 pts) Mar 2022 RRP $23
