Abbey Estate ‘Prophet’ Hawke’s Bay Cabernet/Merlot/Malbec/Franc 2015

Blended Red from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 12-Jul-2017
Very dark, deep, black-hued red colour. The nose is full with up-front, but concentrated aromas of blackcurrants, blackberries, cassis and black plums, along with dark herbal nuances. The fruit is fresh with good ripeness. Medium-full bodied, the palate is fulsome and rich with bold, sweet flavours of blackcurrants, blackberries and cassis, entwines with spicy black plums and herbs. The mouthfeel is open and broad, fulsome and accessible, and is balanced by grainy tannin extraction and fresh acidity. This flows with vigour to a positive, lingering finish of black fruits and herbs. This is a fulsome, robust and up-front, black-fruited Cabernet blend with sweet and juicy fruit and grainy, but accessible tannins. Match with barbecued and grilled, herb-marinated lamb and beef dishes over the next 6-7+ years. A blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot and 15% each of Malbec and Cabernet Franc, fermented to 14.0% alc., parcels of the wine aged 2-3 years in 10% new oak. 18.0-/20 Jul 2017 RRP $25.00
